Welcome to Tech It Up! This is where you will learn about the vast
world of technology. My name is Steve Conrad Wang and I'll be your tour guide
through this journey. I'm a newly computer science major, switching from
computer engineering. I have a great understanding of programming languages
such as Java, C++, and Python. I recently accepted an internship at APM (Applied Micro) who has a main focus within
developing SOC (Server On a Chip) microprocessors. My position will be to test
the prototype SOC's and make sure they correlate to the specified power and
speed ratings.
I'm excited to update you with new and
improved information within the tech field. I'm interested in all areas but
have a main interest with lighting design. My friend owns a event planning
company that deals with concerts and I help him with different lighting and
visual patterns. I plan on designing a LED cube that has different lighting
patterns and can be controlled by the beat of music by the end of this
semester. I will be using C++ and different algorithms to design the
intricate program. This is one of the major challenges that I will be taking on
this semester aside from class work.
It's really cool that you were able to secure an internship developing SOCs. I'm sure you are gaining a lot of valuable experience there as the ARM SOCs are becoming more and more important as the mobile hardware platform industry becomes more profitable.
ReplyDeleteThe LED cube is a very interesting project idea. I think it's really important to have side projects outside of class in order to keep morale high and skills a sharp as they can be. I wish you luck with your pattern cube and I hope it becomes commercially successful!
